Welcome!!

Welcome to the Sieur Du Luth Opera Training Program Blog! There will be lots of fun things to see here as we follow the five week journey of 35 singers from all over North America as they sing, practice, study, rehearse, play, eat and all the other fun things aspiring opera singers do!

This is going to be a FULL summer! As you can see from the picture, we are mounting a full production of Don Giovanni. You can read more about the production on the Events Page. In addition to that, the singers will be performing all summer in a Song Recital, a Scenes Program, and Opera Gala with orchestra, a master class with Carol Vaness, weekly repertoire recitals and master classes with the program faculty and mock auditions with opera agent, Ken Benson and opera administrator, Greg Carpenter.

But that's not all! They will be immersed in classes on yoga, stage combat, Alexander technique, courtly dance, acting as well as coachings and voice lessons. And there will be an all day workshop on the business of singing with Cindy Sadler, opera singer and life coach.

I hope that this blog will be a fun chronicle of the experience of the singers during this busy summer. We have a company photographer/videographer who will be recording their experiences, their impressions, their fun. We'll get a picture, behind the scenes, of how all this operatic madness works!!

Visit the Program website to find out more specifics and buy tickets.

  2. Death by Aria was just AWESOME! As your photographer, I was going to chronicle a few shots to put on the web from the first few singers so that I could leave to start the process of preparing for all of the happenings. However - I could not leave – I had to see what came next – what each singer brought to the program. I can’t tell you how many times that I said “Holy Cow” – after a singer started an aria. The range from the artists spanned upwards of 6 octaves; the approaches to each aria were educated, thoughtful and reverent to the composer; the passion from the singers read – clearly, no matter what their own personal level of expertise - I love to sing. That is what kept me in my seat. You will share your gifts with each other and come away with a new found appreciation for the whole of Opera. Brava and Bravo! And thank you for a great evening.
